Summer wedding at Primrose Hill Farm - Megan and James
Having known Megan for many years, when she got in touch and asked if I would be her wedding photographer I was absolutely over the moon! From the outset I knew Megan’s and James summer wedding day would be everything that I loved! Relaxed, family focused and full of good food and wine!
Leading up to the wedding we met a couple of times to chat over the day. The traditional ‘engagement shoot’ was turned into a family photoshoot to incorporate their daughter, Betty. Sat in the pub after the shoot we chatted over how they envisioned the day - all their favourite people in one room, having an amazing meal and a whole load of fun. And boy did their day at Primrose Hill Farm wedding venue deliver!
Morning preparations
By the time the wedding rolled around it was a sunny August day. With a whole house available for the bridal party to get ready in there was already a buzz of excitement amongst the girls as they took turns to have their hair and make-up done by Chloe Parasmo Make-up and Stephanie Hayes hair. Whilst they were getting ready and enjoying the fizz and pastries, I took the chance to pop upstairs and take photos of some of Megan’s details including not one but two pairs of shoes (after all trainers are perfect for dancing in!), pearl earrings and a very special antique family ring.
Once the girls were all ready. we popped outside for some bridal party photos before Megan got changed into her incredible backless dress from Sammie Lou Bridal Couture. Just before heading to the ceremony, Megan had a chance to have some portraits with her parents - this quieter point in the day is always perfect for these photos.
The ceremony
After the short walk across the gravel from the house to the main barn, it was ceremony time! Another personal touch was including ALL members of the family on the wedding day…family pets and all! That’s right. The family’s two black Labradors were welcomed by Primrose Hill Farm. One of my favourite moments from the day was seeing James and Megan’s daughter Betty walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids whilst trying to negotiate stepping around the dog that was enjoying his moment in the limelight!
The afternoon
Once all of the formal stuff was over it was time to relax and start the celebrations! Confetti was thrown, fizz drank and canapés were enjoyed all whilst guests were able to take in the incredible views at Primrose Hill Farm overlooking the Oxfordshire countryside. There was even a dedicated area with play equipment to keep their daughter Betty busy… although as the day went on, some of the more grown up guests enjoyed the bouncy castle too!
Golden hour
As if the wedding day, couldn’t be more perfect as evening began to fall Megan and James were treated to the most perfect golden hour. After popping out for some couple portraits, an evening of partying kicked off and some incredible shapes were thrown!
